Police arrest 11 Armed Robbers And 26 Cultists

 Ogun State police command at
the weekend said it has
arrested no fewer than 11
members of an armed robbery
gang that has been terrorising
the people of Abeokuta, the
state capital in recent time.
A statement issued yesterday by the command’s Public
Relations Officer, PPRO, Muyiwa Adejobi, said the
collaborative effort of the police and men of the state
vigilance service led to the arrest of the 11 suspects, one
of who was identified by their victims last Saturday.
Their arrest was even as another 26 suspected members
of a secret cult group were arrested over the weekend
across major cities and communities in Ijebu areas of the
state.
Adejobi in the statement, said policemen at the Ibara
Division led by the Divisional Police Officer, DPO, Oyewole
Emmanuel, had arrested the 11 suspects late on Saturday
at Itori Oke area in Abeokuta, following a distress call
received by them.
The PPRO gave names of the suspect to include:
Ebunoluwa Oyinbo, a female, while the other 10 male
suspects are; Ishola Yusuf , Aremu Ismaila, Adebayo
Adeola, Seun Daramola, Rasheed Ahmed, Adejare
Oluwaseun, Rasaki Disu, Sunday Egbejinmi, Abiodun
Soroyehun as well as Sodiq Ajayi.
Adejobi said one of the victims (name withheld) identified
one of the suspects, Adebayo Adeola, to have been the
one that robbed him in his house earlier on August 3, 2013
at about 4.00am.
He further said the state Commissioner of Police,
Ikemefuna Okoye, has ordered that the suspects be
thoroughly investigated while they are kept at the State
Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Eleweran,
Abeokuta.
Giving assurance that the suspects would be charged to
court after the investigation has been concluded, the
police commissioner urged the people of the state to have
trust in the police and share useful information to assist
the police achieve its goal of a crime free state.
In a related development, National Mirror gathered that
the arrest of the 26 suspected cultists was carried out
by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in-charge of
operations, Muhammad AbdulKadir, in a raid launched by
the police at their hideout and black spots across
Ijebuland.
The command’s PPRO, Adejobi confirmed the arrest,
adding that the operation was part of the command’s war
on cultism in the state. He said the cultists were part of
those who have in recent time been involved in the killing
of innocent people in the Ijebu axis of the state
